Aldi – CapAldi

Shoppers in Nottingham recently received the surprise of a lifetime when global superstar Lewis Capaldi appeared on the roof of their local Aldi for an impromptu live performance. To mark the occasion, the singer personally gave the store a temporary new identity, rebranding it “Cap-Aldi” by taping a giant “Cap” over the famous logo before launching into a soaring set that stopped customers in their tracks.

The performance took place just as Capaldi released his latest hit single, ‘Something in the Heavens’, which he performed alongside emotional favorites like ‘Someone You Loved’ and ‘Survive’. This unique activation follows in the footsteps of the viral ‘Aldeh’ rebrand in Prestwich, further cementing Aldi’s reputation for quirky, culture-driven stunts. Amidst the frenzy of the 200,000-ticket sold-out UK arena tour, Lewis even took a moment to admire the view from the roof, jokingly apologizing for interrupting the weekly shop while praising the quality of the store’s brioche buns.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, noted that the event turned an ordinary day into “supermarket history,” providing an unforgettable experience for unsuspecting fans.

I designed all the signage for this project, including the custom assets used to transform the store’s identity for the event.
